Today, music lovers are diving deep into the realm of acoustic music. People are intrigued about this style, particularly why it’s so soothing & hypnotic and how it differs from other genres of music. So, let’s talk about it!
Acoustic music is any genre of music performed using only natural instruments that generate sound without the use of electricity. It’s recognized for emphasizing lyrics and melodies above synthesizers and sound editing software.
Watch acclaimed NYC Jazz Musician Evan Main share his thoughts & experience about crafting an acoustic jazz interpretation of Gio Nation’s original song: “You Know What I’m Talkin’ Bout”!
Although both these artists typically create in their own respective lanes, Evan & Gio both agree that it’s the simple magic in this melodically stripped style that makes it special. Granted, music has never sounded better than it does now, thanks to all of today’s advanced technologies. However, nothing can truly compare to the pure, unadulterated melody & undeniably rich tones of the genre.
Until electronic instruments were invented, the term “acoustic” was never used in music. With the advent of electronic musical instruments, musicians coined a new word to differentiate the natural style from the more produced style. Evan Main prefers the sound of his classic Steinway grand piano over the more modernized synthesizers. This piano is also the one you hear featured in the final studio track.
